We mimic the west, ape it with the hope of being like them but don't know how to. We forget one major difference between US and India, a citizen of the western world has a voice, is a stakeholder, is a valued part of the system. In india we are nothing but pawns in the games that kings play. Though we claim to be a democratic nation there is hardly any evidence to show a commoner matters to the system. We are still under the rule of kings. .....the politicians are the new rulers. The big difference being kings could be toppled from their thrones if they didn't look after the welfare of people. Take Chanakya for example...he strived hard to establish the concept of a nation, the purposeful unity of all people to create a nation that strives for the people. Nowadays the politicians only want power and with their rapaciousness seek their own prosperity. screw the people. Only pawns who have a namesake duty of voting and then hoping for change. Can an Indian citizen demand change? Can we seek justice, can we gt equal opportunities and rights...no way, that privilege belongs only to the thugs that rule the country. politicians have to be held accountable and work within an honour code just like the ancients did. Only then can we hope to be something. India can but won't. ...strange this slave mentality. Even the ones who have enough and can stir a national conscience refrain from doing so. It's obviously safe and comfortable to stay put and let life pass by. God help our great country for no one else will.
